A member asked:

Can sudocrem be used on open boils once they have drained as it is a healing agent? if so, how long would it take to heal once applied?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Boil: Once a boil has drained, keep it draining of puss with warm water compresses. Sterilize surrounding skin by applying rubbing alcohol to kill staph bacteria. You can apply antiseptic sudocream. Cover with a loose gauze held in place with paper tape. If boil closes and swells, see a physician for more treatment. The affected area takes a week or more to fully heal after all puss has drained.
