A member asked:

I am on 20 mg nortriptyline daily for migraine headaches. it has raised by resting heart rate from 52 bpm to 72 bpm. unsurprisingly i am a distance runner, and it seems as if it is significantly slowing my pace. does that make sense?

Yes: what you described looks like side effects of the nortriptyline, palpitations and general weakness, whether those will wear off with continuous use of the drug, time will tell, if not or you feel uncontrollable with, kindly ask your doctor for an alternative, wish you wellness

Nortriptyline is an archaic and not too-successful preventative for migraine and I have NOT used for years. There are far better OTC and prescription items available these days and suggest you find a new approach. Am not surprised by your side effects, as tricyclic drugs are often poorly tolerated.

You may consider for the prevention of migraine headaches the use of nociceptive trigeminal inhibition appliances.
