Lat men or ITBs: It could be one or two things, if it hurts along the joint line and more posterior the anterior it can be a lateral meniscal tear. If it is tenderness over the small projection on the outside of the knee it is probably Iliotibial band syndrome. It is somewhat hard to tell. I would treat with Ice, brace and mild anti-inflammatory medication. If you are still in pain go see your physician.
