Irregular periods: Heavy exercise (as in distance running, etc.) and emotional stress can inhibit ovulation, causing estrogen related thickening of the uterine lining, and when this breaks down, prolonged bleeding will occur, not related to ovulation, hence very irregular. See your gyn provider, as low dose oral birth control can "regulate" this.
