Insect bite: Hi Tracy, the initial stage for a bite will be supportive treatment, which are things we can do to lessen you symptoms. you can try icing it, take ibuprofen for pain. this should get better in a few days, but if it does not or if you have fever, develop an abscess, you should see a doctor to see if you may have infection that requires antibiotics.

Don’t assume : An insect bite should be of relatively sudden onset and associated with itching. Pain, swelling, redness, and tenderness to touch could be more serious. It could be a boil, ingrown hair, or even an MRSA infection. If it is associated with red streaking or fever, go to the ER. Otherwise, a visit with a dermatologist or your primary care doctor is appropriate.
