How come legs start swelling after prolonged periods of sitting?

Cardiologist: The lower leg is considered the 2nd heart of the body due to the valves in the blood vessels. Without proper blood flow pain can result in the leg and feet. Go to your cardiologist doctor and have them check you lower leg blood flow and valves.

Gravity : The force of gravity vs. Small fasciculations of muscle or, better yet, contractions of tissue or muscle. The integrity of the tissue composing the valves will dictate the functionality of the venous system. With the denigration of tissue that time affords us all, we would allow for more rapid and profound swelling as gravity maintains a relatively constant tug.
