Vaginal D/C in peds: Yes, it is possible that the vaginal discharge may indicate a maturing vaginal mucosa and reproductive system. However, the most common source of pediatric vaginal discharges are due to foreign bodies retained inside the vagina. If your 10 year old does not yet have breast development, have her see a MD for assessment especially if the discharge has a foul odor.
