A member asked:

Is ethidium bromide safe to work with (in a laboratory) while breastfeeding?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not studied...: The effects of ethidium bromide on the growth and development of an infant have not been studied. Some general principles that can help: For it to hurt your baby, you would first have to absorb it and excrete it in your milk. According to the MSDS, its supposed to be used under a ventilation hood so exposure is low. If you had a large accidental exposure, I would pump and discard.
