May need a recheck: Throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (oseltamivir may be used for influenza), EBV virus (causes a mononucleosis illness), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. A person might see the doctor again if the sore throat is very painful, doesn't go away quickly, or is happening with other worrisome symptoms.
