A member asked:

Got kyleena iud 12/17. periods regulated but i've had 2 in may, accompanied w/pain in right side (started before 2nd p). is this a cause for concern?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Normal: Kyleena, as well as all progestin IUDs, can cause irregular bleeding, especially in the first 6-9 months. It is normal to not have regular periods, or to have spotting in between periods. It is also normal and expected that periods get lighter and may go away completely over time. Re: the pain you are having, you should get a pelvic ultrasound for evaluation.
