Herpes: Herpes can be spread at any time, not only when you have an outbreak, although it is much more likely to be spread when you have an outbreak. HSV (herpes simplex virus) can live in the skin of the genital area and can be passed to another person, even if there is not an outbreak. It is a good idea to use a condom every time you have sex, and to discuss this with your sexual partners.
