Sounds ok: Taking 1000mg of azithromycin once a day should work the same as taking 500mg twice that day. Some people get more stomach upset with a single 1000mg dose, than if splitting it into two 500mg doses that day. Also, nothing strange should happen if a person was instructed to take 500mg each day for a few days, and accidentally took 1000mg on one of those days.
