Inconsistent dx: In situ melanoma is a stage 0 melanoma and requires .5cm margins for resection, stage 2 melanoma is between 1.1 and 3.99 mm thick and requires wide excision with 2 cm margins with sentinel node biopsy usually performed to he.You need to determine which type of melanoma you have to determine the prognosis. Melanoma in situ has almost no chance for further spread as it doesn't penetrate basal layer
