May help: The black is usually blood pooled underneath the nail. If the nail is drilled soon enough it can relieve the pain and save the nail. I use a heated (hot red) needle or extended paper clip to burn through the nail. It hurts to do but relief is almost immediate. Wait too long & it clots & won't help.
