Renal failure: A very high protein diet can challange the kidneys to get rid of the protein. If the kidney is unable to rid itself of the protein, you could be on the way to kidney failure. One advantage of a higher protein diet would be to have a little more protein and a little less fat in the diet. The american diet is way too high in saturated fat- leading to heart disease and stroke.
