Many possibilities: "Hormone imbalance" probably is the most common cause of this sort of thing, perhaps requiring a different oral/hormonal contraceptive. Need to make sure you're not pregnant. Can be a sign of infection, such as STD if at risk (esp. gonorrhea, chlamydia). Probably your doc is aware of all these and other possibilities as well. Make sure she's checked it out thoroughly.
