Tough question: Sometimes it's easier to sit around and do less activity and therefore it requires more motivation and incentive for them to have a more active lifestyle.

One contributor: Can be how healthy the behaviors were that our parents modeled for us. Once a person becomes deconditioned - it takes a significant effort to work back into a healthy, active lifestyle. Health problems, exhaustion, workaholism, competing responsibilities ; priorities can all get in the way of an active lifestyle.
