A member asked:

Is polypropylene mesh safe. is it the only kind of mesh used?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Safety of mesh: For decades, gynecologic surgeons used installation of mesh to elevate bladders and consequently cure or partially cure leakage of urine. Now, mesh has been found to disintegrate and in some, cause pain. The answer is unclear, but if you had polypropylene inserted and you are asymptomatic, I would make no change. If possible, ask the doctor who did the surgery what he/she advises.
