A member asked:

Is a hysterectomy the best option to permanently repair a partial uterine prolapse? is it better to leave cervix and ovaries? i'm 54 last period 2 yrs

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Prolapse repairs: Hysterectomy is not the only "permanent" repair of a uterine prolapse. Depending upon the severity of the prolapse, first and second degree prolapses can be surgically repaired with round or uterosacral ligament fixations. If you are a smoker, have a chronic respiratory ailment or do exercises that increases intra-abdominal pressure(Valsalva) then hysterectomy is the option.
