"Hypodense": Hypodense simply means low density relative to soft tissue. For example, fluid within a cyst would be hypodense on CT. Sometimes CT is not sufficient to prove that something is definitely just a cyst, so ultrasounds(better at confirming cysts than CT) are routinely ordered in the scenario you are describing.
