Oral bcp's: One can begin low dose oral contraceptives on any day within the first 5 days of a regular period. This prevents ovulation. Waiting longer after your period has started may allow ovulation and pregnancy is possible. Take your bcp's in the evening, within the same hour of your having taken the previous "active" pill. Do not allow more than seven days to elapse without taking an active pill.
