Interesting: I might expect a bruise on his ear if he keeps hitting it. It will bruise like almost any body surface. If he hits it a lot it may signal fluid pressure in his ear or an ear infection. An exam could confirm or exclude that. The lump is likely just a common lymph node of little significance.
