Particle Question: Ldl is a lipoprotein that can be measured by cholesterol (ldl-c) or particle number (ldl-p). Because cholesterol in LDL is highly variable, ldl-c often disagrees with ldl-p. When cholesterol and particle number disagree cvd risk tracks with ldl-p, not ldl-c. Ldl goals vary depending on risk. If your doctor feels you are high risk ldl-p goal is less than 1000 nmol/l.
