A member asked:

I have higher blood pressure on one arm that has a varicose vein than the other arm. is that because a varicose vein causes high blood pressure or is it the other way around?

Neither: Varicose veins do not affect arterial blood pressure. Talk to your doctor if you have any symptoms. Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

V V's and BP: Varicose veins do not cause high blood pressure and are not a result of high blood pressure. If you have varicose veins in your arms, then see a vein specialist.
