It's "possible": but may also be connected with SALT RETENTION (???due to hormonal changes the "every few months" is a "clue" OR something you are doing at work ..or home that occurs every few months. BE A DETECTIVE ..keep a journal if necessary...if you can't figure it out a good PCP might be able to... Hope this is helpful Dr Z
