Hi, i would like to ask whether serious or severe rheumatism will caused any life threatening ? my mom in her late 70's has i think is severe case of rheumatism as both of her last fingers are swollen and sometimes her middle finger will bend inwardl?

Rheumatism: It sounds that you are worried about your mother having rheumatoid arthritis. This is a serious disease that can affect other parts of the body - lungs, skin, blood vessels. If not treated, decreased motion and ability to care for herself can be worse than life threatening. She should see her PCP who will determine whether she should see a specialist. Record and time the symptoms.
