A member asked:

I currently am being medicated for a uti. i still have burning pain when i urinate, but the pain seems to be on the outside of the vaginal opening.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

UTI: pain location?: With a UTI, "burning pain" usually occurs in the urethra (tube from the bladder to the outside). If this burning pain occurs on the outside of the vaginal opening, it may mean you have a shallow ulcer which is irritated by urine. Ask your gyn provider to get a serum test for herpes type I or II, as often these ulcers occur with stress and are almost unnoticeable.
