Usually once: Most of the time, she will only need it once . The alternate remedy is surgery which may be followed by serious complications. I assume that suppressive treatment has not work or become undesirable.

On time : Usually this is a one time and after that the thyroid gland is nonfunctional After that she has to take thyroid replacement medication as she will have an under active thyroid
