My son never recovered fully from gastro that he got at school camp and now has to run to toilet several times a day. is there medication for this?

Infectious process: first, stool samples should be obtained for culture and sensitivity, ova and parasites as well as c. diff...treatment could include the use pf probiotics, meds to control the diarrhea a bit, and possible inclusion of antibiotics like metronidazole....

Your son: needs to have a stool examination for OVA (eggs) and PARASITES....school camps are often the site of parasitic GI infections which many kids cannot "overcome" without specific Diagnosis and Treatment! Just a thought...but hope it helps! Dr Z
