Menopause ?'s: Menopause is defined as cessation of ovarian activity, but prior to actual menopause (average age 54) there is some continued estrogen production, which stimulates the growth of the uterine lining. As estrogen levels decrease, a portion of the uterine lining may deteriorate, causing occasional spotting. This should be evaluated by your gyn provider by ultrasound and biopsy if necessary.
