A member asked:

I4 years post kidney transplant. 2 weeks post c-diff (had it 3x since october) was on vancomyocin. now uti , (citrobacter) macrobid but didn't work?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Resistant infection?: successful treatment of infections with citrobacter relies on results of culture and sensitivity profile of the organism. These bacteria are frequently resistant to multiple antibiotics . With your transplant status, assessment of infection has to be careful because your immune system is possibly impaired by the anti-rejection meds. There is a higher rate of virus , and unusual bugs causing issues
