"Zoley": cold sores?: "Zoley" is unlikely to cause "cold sores", which are caused by herpes type I virus, or occasionally herpes type II. There are antiviral medications which can shorten the course of an episode of cold sores, such as acyclovir, valcyclovir or famcyclovir. Stress of any kind can activate the virus and cause the "cold sores".
