Sure can!: Diverticulitis is an infection of diverticula (pouches in the colon), and any infection stress the body. In diabetes this loads to higher glucose levels. This is why infections are so worrying for diabetics especially. When sick, monitor your blood sugars closely, even if on antibiotics. Discuss your treatment of the diverticulitis with your doc, & above what levels of blood sugar to call.
