Period: cramps: In one's 30's, the ovaries produce more estrogen to achieve ovulation, which can lead to more vigorous bleeding and occasional clots during the "period". Clots thus produced will temporarily block the cervical canal, and stronger contractions of the uterus will result in order to force the clot through the canal. This process produces the situation you describe.
