A member asked:

How likely is it that genital warts will show up on pap smear? had 3 normal pap smears in past 10yrs & no symptoms. could i still have genital warts?

Genital warts: Genital warts are caused by a virus which has affinity for skin contact with an infected individual. Human papilloma virus contacted intra-vaginally can give rise to abnormal pap smears, and eventual pre-malignant and malignant lesions. It is not impossible to have both.

It depends on Pap: It depends on the type of pap smear that was done as there are different types. If the pap was the type that also reports HPV(human papilloma virus) in tis media then you are clear of concerns for cervical infestation with HPV. The vulva usually produces visible warts and can readily be seen by a MD and sometimes a patient with a mirror.
