Dr. can check throat: A primary care doctor can evaluate to see if there is a cold or flu (viral infection), a strep throat (bacterial, and would need antibiotics), a sinus infection (viral or bacterial), allergies in the nose and sinuses, mucus in the lungs (would need some treatment), etc... Since one can have one or more of these issues at the same time, a doctor's visit is recommended.
