Depends on cause: If it is due to hiatal hernia, that may require surgical correction. If you are overweight, it would help to lose weight (easier said than done). Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

De-stress yourself.: There is no cure, but there is an answer. Alter your diet to reduce acid--have a good diagnostic work up to exclude hiatal hernia. GERD can turn into a progressive disorder that leads to cancer. Learn progressive relaxation techniques and learn to deal with your anxiety. Adopt a metaphysical attitude that there is nothing in the world you cannot handle.
