Sharp pains: Sharp pains in that region unaffected by motion may be caused by left kidney or left lung pathology or early shingles. Disk pressing on a nerve root is less likely a cause. Observe for urinary, respiratory symptoms or rash and if such symptoms develop,go to the hospital emergency room where prompt evaluation and testing are available.
