I have heard that there is a gel that can be injected into the knee to provide cushioning when there is no cartilage left in the knee. is this effective? i have been told that i am too young for a knee replacement (i have just turned 40)

Yes: The effectiveness is dependent upon the type of arthritis and extent of the joint involvement. It is also expensive and time limited in terms of its effectiveness requiring further injections down the road. You need to be evaluated by an orthopedist.
