PCOS: Provera use can elicit a withdrawal bleeding episode in cases of amenorrhea caused by PCOS, but a better way of management is with low dose oral birth control (bcp's). Low dose bcp's inhibit ovarian hormone production, and if no contraindications are present, prevent long term exposure to high estrogen, which can promote later cancer of the uterus.
