Porcine valves: At this time in the US, NOAC's are not recommended for anticoagulant therapy with either mechanical or porcine heart valves. Many specialists feel that three months after pig valve replacement, anticoagulant therapy is no longer necessary unless there are other indications like atrial fibrillation. Your cardiologist can advise you best,however.
