Not really: Although they are safe when used episodically, the simplest, like antihistamine based or melatonin have been known to accumulate, prevent you from going into the deepest (best) sleep levels, and lead to habitual use. Dependence is not like that of some meds, but the emotional impact of "needing one" takes its toll. At 18 you should discuss this with your doc & see if better options are available
