A member asked:

Please explain interstitial fibrosis in lower right lobe on a ct scan.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Acid reflux ?: Interstitial fibrosis can result from small particles that are inhaled in the air - that leads to the development of inflammation and scarring in the lungs (eg. talc. flour, the list goes on). The right lower lobar involvement calls to mind the possibility of acid reflux aspiration and may be a greater cause of idiopathic (unknown cause) interstitial fibrosis than we realize.
