7 wks pregnant: bldg: At approximately seven to eight weeks of pregnancy, the ovary (corpus luteum) declines in the production of progesterone, and the placenta has not yet begun to produce enough to prevent this as a deficit, so some bleeding does occur, which can appear as a "brown discharge". If the bleeding persists, see your OB provider for an ultrasound and exam.
