Herpes prevention: The main thing people with genital herpes due to HSV2 can do to protect partners is to be taking anti-herpes Rx, e.g. valacyclovir (Valtrex). It's harmless, so why not? Also no sex if having a visible outbreak. With these precautions, your partner will be at very low risk for either oral or vaginal sex. (If she and you have the same HSV type, she is immune to new infection, no precautions needed.)
