Internal Medicine 61 years experience
Rib cage: Sharp pain on motions of the rib cage, if not from recent injury, can be from pinched intercostal nerve or muscle which runs between two ribs, from an inflammation like costochondritis, especially if there's associated tender area, or other rib or rib muscle pathology. If symptoms persist see your MD. Otherwise avoid straining the chest wall to see if symptoms resolve.
