Tendonitis: Recurrent or aggravation of chronic tendonitis may be the problem. A week's course of anti-inflammatory medication like ibuprofen or naproxen along with resting the shoulder should help. If not an orthopedic specialist may find a trigger point and inject it with corticosteroid medication as treatment which is usually quite effective. Physical therapy may also be recommended.
