A member asked:

Sore throat, deep productive cough (clear/pink/brown phlegm), headache, nausea, sore/weak body, chest tightness for the past 3 days. no fever?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor can evaluate: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. A person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat or other treatable conditions). Hopefully, the patient had his flu vaccine.
