A member asked:

My blood work results: hsv 1 was negative but my hvs 2 igg, type specific ab result was 1.09 (<0.90 being normal)...does that mean im infected? (no symptoms)

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe.: The lab result reference ranges might be: Negative (<0.90), Equivocal (means maybe or maybe not, 0.90-1.10), Positive (>1.10). If a person is in the Equivocal range and never has symptoms, she might not be infected. If she is in the Equivocal range and does have symptoms, she's likely infected. Life is not exact. If there is no urgent matter, she can repeat the test some time in the future.
