Costochondritis: If you're not obtaining relief after taking anti-inflammatory medications and you can identify the tender area,perhaps a corticosteroid injection at the site would be effective. However an xray may be first recommended to rule out a rib fracture which can occur from coughing. Discuss this with your physician. I have referred cases like this to a thoracic surgeon for evaluation and treatment.
